Somewhere In Bangkok- An Authentic Thai Restaurant
Somewhere in Bangkok is an authentic Thai Restaurant that presents its customers with traditional Thai dishes, pleasant dining atmosphere, and a friendly staff. We are a family owned restaurant run by Head Chef Song Siboriboun and myself, Chanya Siboriboun. My dream has always been to open up an authentic Thai food restaurant. We strive to bring you authentic Thai cuisine without having to pay for the expensive flight to Thailand.
One of the major factors to our success is our good team work. Our team tries our best to prepare our dishes as close to the authentic Thai taste as possible, even though we lack some of the ingredients here in the U.S. I train my staff to cook from the heart and to not cook solely for the paycheck. I believe that when you cook from the heart, it yields better results.
Every year I develop a new special menu which features dishes that are unique to Thai culture. A majority of my menu items come from dishes that I prepare at home for my family. When I was young, I spent a lot of time in the kitchen with my mother. If I did not go in the kitchen during dinner prep, my mom would give me a hard time. If I did not want to cook or help prepare dinner, I had to sit and watch my mother and help clean the dishes. From a young age I’ve had extensive training in the kitchen. Much of my culinary experience stems from my upbringing.
How We Got To Where We Are
From spending quality time with my mother in the kitchen, I learned the steps to preparation, the ingredients needed, along with the actual recipe to prepare the dish. In cuisine, people tend to focus more on the cooking style than the actual preparation aspect. In Thai cooking, the preparation stage is actually more time consuming than the actual production of the dish. A lot of the spices needed for our dishes are actually a combination of different ingredients.
And now Thai food has become the most popular exotic cuisine in the world . Our food is designed to offer a combination of flavors : sweet , sour , hot, salty and bitter. These unique flavors depend on special ingredients native to Thai Food
Here at Somewhere in Bangkok, we do our best to bring you the freshest ingredients. Every summer we grow a majority of the vegetables that we use in our dishes in our home garden. Vegetables such as, tomatoes, peppers, scallions, mint, basil, parsley, lime leaves, lemon grass, Chinese broccoli, long green beans, and cilantro. This year we harvested over 1,000 lbs of chili peppers alone.
All of our menu items are made to order, so you can specify if you have any food allergies, preferences, or lifestyle diet (vegetarians, vegans etc.)
We hope you enjoy your experience at Somewhere in Bangkok and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.
